On designated Wednesdays throughout the semester, we will discuss a part from the Witold Rybczynski’s book: How Architecture Works: A Humanist’s Tool Kit. (The schedule of specific dates will be determined and announced). Everyone in the studio will read the assigned chapter well before it is to be discussed in class. A small group of students will be assigned to each part and will serve as moderator(s) or provocateur(s) of discussion.
The 3-2-1 Method: To foster conversation, record in your journal the following:
• a minimum of three ideas/concepts that you learned from the book; • two questions you might pose to the group that may tie to the earlier or current issue
relevant to class ; and • one notion, concept, or understanding that relates to your understanding of architecture,
with a brief explanation of why/how your interpretations apply in an essay (max. 250 words).
The 3Ps Paradigm In your questions for discussion and in your essay, make sure you encourage your peers/instructors understand how you addressed the following;
• Who (People) • Where (Place) • What or How (Process)
The essays are due and to be uploaded to D2L at 00:01 am on the day discussion of the part of the book to be discussed in the Wednesday recitation session.
