Case Study Qsn:

Case study 1 A 32-week pregnant female presents at the Birthing Suite in labour. She has no history of any antenatal care for this pregnancy at the hospital. A group and antibody screen was performed and showed that she is A Rh(D) negative with a positive antibody screen, identified as anti-D.

1. Explain the possible cause of her anti-D.
2. Discuss the clinical significance of anti-D in relation to transfusion of red cells to the mother.
3. Discuss the clinical significance of anti-D in relation to haemolytic disease of the foetus and newborn.
