1.Describe and analyze the conflicts and compromises that occurred during the drafting of the Constitution. What was the main source of conflict between large and small states, and how did the Great Compromise resolve it? What was the nature of the conflict regarding slavery during the Philadelphia convention? How did the Three-Fifths Compromise address this conflict?
2.The framers clearly envisioned a smaller role for the national government than what is presently the case. How have society and technology changed to allow or require greater national government control over the states?
3.The separation of powers & federalism are two key features of the Constitution. Discuss why the Founders chose to include these institutional arrangements in the Constitution and how they function. In your answer, be sure to define what is meant by the separation of powers and federalism and to describe how each functions in the American political system.
