You are to choose an event that you have attended and write a reflective journal demonstrating
your understanding of content covered in the course. You will be assessed on your critical thinking
skills, your understanding of key policy and strategy principles and how they relate to the event
industry.
The best way to accomplish this task is to consider the following questions in relation to a specific
event that you have attended or have knowledge of:
1. Did the event drive social or economic development for the event host or key supporters?
2. Who benefited from the event?
3. Was there a return on investment? How was this measured?
4. Why did the Government or Corporate support this event?
5. Were there negative impacts? How were these mitigated?
6. Is there an example of a competing event (public or private) that performed better on the
delivery of community/corporate objectives?

Your reflective journal should not be a simple recitation of the material that has been
covered. You should use your post to demonstrate your understanding of the subject matter
and any broader implications of what you have learnt, including how you see your learning
experiences extending beyond the classroom.
