You are to create a brochure that provides, in an orderly and creative way, an outline on the necessary information teachers will need to know about how to prevent head injuries in children. The brochure will assist in the identification and minimization of potential “risk” situations in the school setting. Instructions: Each student must develop a brochure. The brochure should be colorful and pleasing to the eye. It can be simple but must include the “risk” situations and how teachers can prevent student injury. You may chose the design of the brochure. It can be bi-fold or tri-fold. It must include the following: Definition of a head injury Possible “risks” for head injury in the school setting Steps to implement to prevent head injuries What to do in the case of a head injury Who to contact Recommended web sites for additional information Part 4: Module 5: Discussion — Language and Linguistically-Culturally Diverse Children and Acquired Language Disorders Chapters 9 and 10 has taken us down the path to two interesting groups of children language differences — linguistically-culturally diverse children and children with acquired language disorders. These two groups present us with challenges we have not faced to this point. Children who sustain a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), must relearn language and communication skills they previously had. This can be frustrating for both the teacher and the child. The following discussions questions are designed to help you understand the language disorders these two have and stimulate discussion on how best to help them progress.
