Using the resources provided in this module, compose a brief assignment (500 to 800 words, approximately 2 to 3 pages) about cybersecurity in the workplace. Below are a few prompts to help you focus your assignment. (Do not try to discuss all of these topics. Choose one or two that interest you.) · Why do companies conduct cybersecurity risk assessments? What do they find out from these assessments? · Why should companies increase cybersecurity awareness among their employees? How can they do this?

Written Assignment 1

Compose a brief document of between 250 and 500 words (approximately 1½ to 2 pages long) explaining one of the following aspects of academic policy at TESU:

·        Course extensions

·        Course withdrawals and refunds

·        Transfer credit policy

·        Policy against discrimination and harassment

Read about the policy or procedure and explain it fully, describing it in your own words rather than merely copying what is in the original document. Be sure you use the rubric to help you complete the assignment successfully.

After completing your explanation of the policy, add 150 to 200 words (one to two paragraphs) indicating how the embedded rubric helped you to focus and improve your assignment.

In your assignment you should:

·        Explain the policy/procedure completely and accurately.

·        Describe the policy in your own words rather than copying the description on the website.

·        Provide at least one example of a situation that might bring a student into contact with the policy.

·        Check to make sure your description is well organized and clearly written, with proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

·        Indicate how using the rubric helped you to focus and improve your assignment.

Written Assignment 2

Using the resources provided in this module, compose a brief assignment (500 to 800 words, approximately 2 to 3 pages) about cybersecurity in the workplace. Below are a few prompts to help you focus your assignment. (Do not try to discuss all of these topics. Choose one or two that interest you.)

·        Why do companies conduct cybersecurity risk assessments? What do they find out from these assessments?

·        Why should companies increase cybersecurity awareness among their employees? How can they do this?

·        What are the benefits of regularly updating applications (apps), of password control, and of VPNs?

·        What are the benefits to a company and to individual employees of creating a culture of cybersecurity, where employees continue to use best practices outside of the office?

·        What cybersecurity risks occur when employees bring their own devices to work? How can companies mitigate these risks?

·        What are some resources to help people remain aware of cybersecurity threats and best practices?

Your assignment should:

·        Cover the topic completely and accurately. Use what you have learned about critical thinking to provide reasons or evidence for your statements.

·        Credit any sources you used to complete your assignment. You will not be graded in this assignment on the details of citation style, but it is important that you indicate to the best of your ability when you have used information from an outside source.

·        Check to make sure your paper is well organized and clearly written, with proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

  1. Select three resources you might use for a paper on this topic.
  1. Include specific source information about each of the three resources you chose, indicating: (a) the author of the item; (b) the date of publication; and (c) the book, periodical, or website where the information can be found. You will not be graded on the details of citation style, but your assignment should include all of the above information. (If you are already familiar with proper citation style, feel free to cite your information in that format. Otherwise, just list the items.)
  1. Indicate why you chose these sources. Write two or three sentences explaining each choice.

Keep in mind that this assignment involves the initial part of the research process, selection and evaluation of resources, not the actual writing of a paper. Your assignment should consist of:

·        Three appropriate resources from credible sources.

·        Information about the author, date of publication, and source (book, periodical, or website) of each resource.

·        A reason why you chose each source over others.

Written Assignment 4

After examining the Purdue University material on annotated bibliographies, create a brief annotated bibliography to support your final paper topic. Your annotated bibliography should contain a minimum of five sources, including at least one of each of the following:

·        A credible website

·        An academic source from one of the databases offered through Thomas Edison State University

·        A source found through Google Scholar

In your annotation for each source, briefly summarize it; describe its usefulness, reliability, and objectivity; and tell how it fits into your paper.

Written Assignment 5

Sometime in the course of your education or your career you will probably be asked to lead or participate in a presentation. You’ll find it valuable to know the options available for presenting information to a group in a clear and engaging manner.

Read the lesson material as well as the articles by TechRadar and also by Spencer referenced in your study materials. (You may also do further research, if desired.) Then compose a brief document of between 500 and 850 words (approximately 2 to 3 pages long). Your document should do all of the following:

·        Compare at least two of the tools, examining advantages and disadvantages of each type.

·        Speculate about why a particular situation or setting might call for one type of software over another.

·        Think about classroom, social, or workplace experience you have had as an audience member for a presentation. Critique one aspect (either positive or negative) of the presenter’s use of presentation software.

Written Assignment 6

Read the articles by Doyle, Linaker, and Zhang. Then do the following (two parts):

  1. Create your own professional online profile, suitable for LinkedIn. Limit your profile to only three of the areas discussed by Zhang: headline, summary, and experience. Follow the advice of Zhang and or other sources for each.
  1. In a separate document of up to 300 words, explain the principles you followed in creating your profile and discuss the advantages of social media networking through a professional profile like the one you have created.

Your profile and the separate document should be concise and clearly written, with a tone appropriate for a professional setting. Before submitting, read over your profile to be sure the writing is clear, with proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Submit both documents through the Written Assignment 6 link.

Written Assignment 7

Lesson 6 provided guidance in methods for remaining current in your field or profession, such as joining professional organizations or networking. Do some additional research, focusing on your field of interest, and create a brief document of between 400 and 600 words (approximately 1-1/2 to 2 pages long) discussing specific ways that you could keep up with developments in your field.

Your assignment should indicate specific professional or trade organizations or publications, examples of networking opportunities, and suggestions for volunteer or interning possibilities. Before submitting your assignment, read over it to be sure that it is organized clearly. Also, be sure to  properly document sources you found in your research and used in your written assignment.
