The firm called” The Freedom Riders”
1.How did the Freedom Riders differ from the NAACP and Martin Luther King? What impact did the Freedom Rides have on the philosophy and tactics of the iconic movement leader Martin Luther King?
2. Unlike most other campaigns of the Civil Rights Movement, a single organization or charismatic leader did not dominate the freedom rides. Many riders were students in their late teens or early twenties. What do the rides suggest about the ability of ordinary citizens to affect public policy? Do you see yourself ever participating in any movement? Could you ever see yourself willing to take on the risks such action would incur?
3. What did you learn from this documentary that you didn’t already know? (Be honest, it is OKAY to not know facts you think you should have known, or that seem obvious). What questions do you still have?
