ISTM6290 – Python Programming With Database Applications
Semester Project 2 – Database Processing
Spring 2017
Database Processing Description
The database processing project will parse a text file and use the data to load data into relational tables in SQLite3. It will provide functions to execute SQL queries as described below. The table structures are the same as they were in TableDefs2.txt. A raw data text file is provided as well as the raw data text file layout.
- Modify the GUI to look like the following:
-
Then create
the following functions and connect them to the GUI:
- WhoAmI: This function will display your name in the first line edit box so I can verify whose program I am working on.
- Load Data: I will provide the name of the text file with the input data. It will be the same format as the file provided on Blackboard although the rows may be different and there will be some missing values. You must parse the data and load it into appropriate tables in an SQLite3 database which you should call LastName.db. When you are finished, put the number of rows processed into the lineedit where you retrieved the filename from.
- Total Row Count: This function will count the total rows for each table and the total row count for all tables. Individual table counts will be shown in the Python IDLE shell. The total row count will be shown in the lineedit box below the button.
- Count Missing Values: This function will count the number of missing values in each table and provide a total count. Individual table counts will be shown in the Python IDLE shell. The total count will be shown in the lineedit box below the button.
- Table Row Count: I will provide a table name for which you will provide the number of rows
- List Table: I will provide a table name and you will list all the rows in the table in the Python IDLE shell.
- Customer SQL Test: I will type an SQL Query into the test box which you will execute and print the results in the Python IDLE shell.
