1Aim/Research question
The current research is focussed on to research the contemporary domestic and industrial applications where in the Internet of Things (IOT) can be of optimum use. Typical applications of internet of things (IOT) to optimize the operational value and direct benefits are of key focus and insights are obtained for the same based on literature studies.
- Back Ground, Motivation and Relevance
- Internets of Things (IOT) are connected devices that do work for betterment of lives in general. They will work to simplify the tasks in life contributing to reduction in time, saves energy and money as well (Al Fuquaha et al.,2015). IOT applications in diverse sectors already proven their efficiency in optimizing the resource usage while improving the effectiveness of target processes (Bandopadhyay& Sen,2011). IOT (or connected Devices) are now being employed in smart homes, being employed in wearables, employed for optimizing the car operations, industrial technologies have empowered with IOT usage, worked on to make the cities smart, propelled smart farming in agriculture and so forth. Potential applicability of IOT in all these domains working to realize better outcomes to the target domains (Ben Daya et al.,2019).
- The key motivation for the study of IOT usage in processes is the fact that IOT do have high potential to change the landscape of process effectiveness and efficiencies in general(Chen & Man, 2016). Further insights into the current state of application of IOT devices will enable to prepare a framework of study, which will further enable the extension of applicability of IOT devices for new domains (Da et al.,2014).
- Research on IOT is relevant and significant contributor for contemporary operational improvement and hence it is worth focussing the current research work on the same.
- B Create Observations as per the expectations of the research project ody of Knowledge:
F
Collect Journals igure 1 Mind Map
Organize findings as per the required format and present the same
Analyze data and make inferences about IOT – applications
Articles from news
Organization reports
2Scope, Objectives and Risk
- The scope of the current research work is limited to extensive examination of the trends in contemporary IOT usage in organizations. Both the domestic, industrial cutting edge technologies are the target of investigation and inferences from the will be deduced as applicable to the recent technologies and utilities (Fantana et al.,2013). The research will be focussed only on the application side of instrumentation and it is not concerned with the basics and the design and other technological aspects of the IOT device usage.
- The current research is limited to the collection of the information from secondary research resources only. The investigation is mainly based on collection of information from the secondary research and there is no element of research from primary research. There is no usage of any experimentation, or direct investigation. Only evidential information from peer reviewed journal articles, magazines and other news media (reliable) will be employed. The scope of research is limited only to employ information from such resources (Javed et al.,2018).
- The objectives of the current investigation is confined to investigate the domains where IOT is finding good usage as well it will also indicate the benefits, which IOT devices are yielding at present to the users. Findings may include the benefits which IOTs are providing to the process improvement, energy savings, time savings, effectiveness and efficiency improvements and so forth. The listing of the same domain wise and typical application wise will yield a framework for identification of the domains where IOT usage can be extended further. Also, the framework will work on to provide outcomes which can be use for further investigation of possible modifications in the application of IOTs in general for betterment of the outcomes and any specific concerns if applicable.
- The risk contained in the current research work is the contextuality of the findings for the changed technology scenarios. As the technology is changing, more and more threats and vulnerabilities are evolving, hence the applicability and versatility of the devices and the usages of the same need to be freshly investigated in the changed scenarios and this makes up one of the key aspects of the risk if not investigated properly. Further, there is considerable scope of risk contained in outdating of the information available in the literature. If the information collected is too old, there is risk that the said applicability or the usage may be not fit for the current needs, Hence it may be needed for fresh validations of the findings and inferences drawn from the research, based on the specific context and the case(Silva et al.,2018).
- SMART Objectives:
- The key objective of the research is to investigate the usage patterns of IOT at present in diverse industry and domestic applications.
- Identification of the domains where IOT usage has yielded maximum outcomes in terms of optimization or objective outreach.
- The findings and challenges obtained from IOT applications.
- The possible extension of application of IOT to new domains and new applications.
- Proximity of application of IOT for new unexplored domains (Suresh et al.,2014).
Each of the above objectives is contained in investigating the specific objective from the secondary research resources. Peer reviewed credible and reliable sources of information will be employed for investigation. The entire research work is expected to be completed in a time span of about 4 to 4.5 months. The following is the list of the tasks based on the objectives set with and the typical time period estimated for each of these tasks is provided here in the table(Talavera et al.,2017).
- Following is the typical task list for the same,

Professional ethics as well as the professional competency will be adhered to in making up the final shape of the findings from the project. Both directly and indirectly, the professional interests of the project will not be compromised. The ultimate objective of the project has no implications to damage the public or private interests of the society. The social integrity, professional integrity aspects will be retained for the sake of project progression. As part of the project progression, the quality of the project outcomes and the standards of the contemporary research work will be maintained. A professional competency will also be reflected to ensure what is right? What is wrong? as well to make sure that the project work is performed with all the necessary accuracy, if there any deviation or concern observed in this regard, professional judgement will be applied to ensure that the work is performed with all the necessary compliance with the professional standards.
