As presented by the industry practitioner in week 01 lecture, the first assessment will focus on the delivery of an innovative, disruptive start-up pitch focusing on the Australian financial industry (fintech). It is anticipated that your breadth of knowledge of the status quo and your expertise in analytics tools, techniques and frameworks will be resourceful in presenting a start-up pitch.
Some Fintech sectors for your consideration: lending, payment, wealth, retail, forex, crowdfunding, insurance, regulatory.
What you are required to do:
• Determine a suitable focus area in the financial sector for a fintech development • Understand the key elements of a start-up pitch • Conduct an environment scan/literature search of current solutions in the selected focus area, both overseas and local (Background). • Develop a critical understanding of the gaps and challenges, as well needs and expectations I this sector, in Australia (Problem/challenge). • Based on your readings and observations, as well as expertise acquired in the course thus far, propose the design, development and deployment of an analytics solution for the identified problem/challenge (solution). • You must independently decide on the nature, scale of the problem as well as the type of analytics solution (components, lifecycle, insights generation) that you intend to design, develop and deploy. • You must also account for the ethics and governance factors that will influence the proposed solution.
Deliverables:
- An 8-10-minute video recording of your start-up pitch. o You may use a slide deck to organise your content, and you must be visible in the recording to deliver the pitch. o Background, challenge and solution are required as a minimum. o You can use the One Button Studio in the City Campus.
