ELECTRONIC ASSIGNMENT COVERSHEET Unit Code Student’s Declaration: I am aware that I am making this declaration by submitting this document electronically and by using my Murdoch ID and password it is deemed equivalent to executing this declaration with my written signature. Signed (Write your name in the space above) Choose an information / communication technology that is of interest to you. For example, you might choose a social media app, a system for managing home delivery orders and sending them to drivers, an augmented reality game or a groupware application for working and communicating online during a lockdown. Critically analyse this using the methods you have been taught. Describe it carefully, noting features of particular interest. Do some background research about the application; if possible say how and why it was developed and by whom. See if you can find any research papers or other documents reviewing or criticizing it. Assess what is good and bad about the application and say how you think it might be improved in future, if possible. Title Introduction Provide a brief introduction to the device/system, including notes describing the expected users, the context of use, the sort of tasks that the thing is used for and the technology required to support it. Background Research Summarise existing research that is relevant to device/system. This might include a theory of operation, or notes on the history of development, or even expectations for the future of this kind of thing. Make sure you cite these references properly (see References, below). How it works Explain clearly how the device/system/product works. Provide at least one diagram illustrating this. Don’t forget to give your diagram an appropriate caption in text below it (e.g. Fig. 2 How it works). You do not need to go into a lot of technical detail, but should outline the design concept and the basic parts and operation of the system. If it is flexible and could be used in different applications, explain how. Benefits and Risks Explain the benefits and any risks that might be involved with using the project. You should explain why each item is a benefit or a risk in a few sentences. Conclusion Summarise your arguments, explain any reservations you might have about the product, and how you think it might be improved. What are the future prospects of the system, if any? References It is important to provide appropriate references for the materials you have used. Use the IEEE style and try to avoid anonymous, random websites if possible. If you are not sure how to cite references, seehttp://libguides.murdoch.edu.au/IEEE Marking Your tutor will mark the assignment as follows. Note that it adds up to a maximum of 32 marks; this will be weighted to be worth 35%. |
