Central to the process of furthering cultural awareness and enhancing cultural competence is cultural self-awareness. The more we are each aware of our unique cultural make-up, background and perspectives, the better equipped we are to provide culturally sensitive services to others. Further, by identifying our own areas of strength and growth with regard to cultural awareness, knowledge and skills, we can better identify mindful action steps toward increasing our capacity toward understanding and communicating with a diverse range of individuals. ? ?For week 2, review and complete the attached “Diversity Self-Awareness Assessment.” The assessment is a helpful tool in recognizing areas of strength and possible areas of growth in three domains with regard to self-awareness.
