Background:
We have collected, edited, coded and tabulated the data collected on the questionnaire
administered to the employees and customers from the Australian Tourism Industry in five
Australian cities:.
1. Adelaide
2. Brisbane
3. Gold Cost
4. Melbourne
5. Sydney
As part of this assessment you will help us analyse this secondary data obtained to interpret the
results.
We are assuming that there are these variables and 30 rows of data that you have to use to
calculate your answers (based on the content covered from week 6-9)

1. Variable List:
a) Provide a summary table listing each variable with information under the following
column headings: Variable Name, Variable Description (see the information in
the above table) and Variable Type (qualitative or quantitative). If the variable is
quantitative you need to state whether it is discrete or continuous.

b) Write the questions that you think were asked in the questionnaire for
collecting the information on each of these heads. (2 Marks)
2. Analyse the data using bar chart.

a) Count the data under each of the categories under Hotel Location using the countif
function of excel.
b) Make a bar chart to representing the Hotel location data graphically. Comment on the
results. (2 Mark)
c) Make a bar chart for the Customer Satisfaction (1-5 scaled) in your data.Comment on
your findings (3 Mark)
3. Analyse the data using Pie diagram
a) Produce a Pie diagram representing the data on Room type. Comment on the results.

4. Calculate the Central Tendencies:
a) Calculate the central tendencies for one of the columns of quantitative data from the
data sheet
o Mean
o Median
o Mode
o Range
Analyse and Comment on results. (2 Mark)
5. Histogram:
a) Produce a histogram showing the distribution of the Customer Age in your data
sample and provide your comments on the shape.

6. Pivot table:
a) Prepare a single summary table that shows Average employee Annual Salary
according Hotel Type, Hotel Location. Think carefully about the layout of rows
and columns of your table.

b) Provide your comments on both analysis results.

a) Interpreting the information based on your analysis provide your comments on the
findings of this survey. (3 Mark)
