Students will critically discuss one issue of end of life care in the context of the Canadian health care system. For example, if the choice of seminar topic is Place of Death the student may wish to discuss a particular location such as dying at home in the paper. The idea is to delve deeply (depth) into one area of the topic rather than providing an overview (breadth) of all aspects of the topic as is done in the student seminars. NOTE: This paper may not be the same topic as that of the students own group seminar Students may reference readings/articles from the course outline, or from weekly seminar topics, however, an additional minimum of 6 to 8 journal references (current i.e., within 5 years) are also required. Canadian references are preferred, references from other countries may be included if appropriate to the topic. Follow APA 6th edition style guidelines. Components of the Scholarly Paper: The paper must include: An introduction of the scope of the paper. A discussion of what the literature states about the issue. A discussion of why/ how this is an issue that needs to be addressed. A discussion of the impact of the issue on the client and/or family members. A discussion of the impact that the issue has on the nursing profession. A discussion of some of the evidence-based nursing strategies and/or theories that have been utilized in addressing the issue with the client, the family members, and/or the nursing profession (as appropriate to the topic).
