OVERVIEW
The Research Essay Plan is worth 5% of the overall marks for this unit and should be 250 words in length.
The essay plan is to be submitted through Turnitin before the beginning of the second teaching session of week 5 (the last lesson in the week ending Friday 30 November). This will provide the opportunity for feedback on the plan to be given during that teaching session.
ASSESSMENT DESCRIPTION
This task assesses the learning outcomes 1 (critically read, analyse and make meaning from academic texts), 2 (identify and summarise the main points of arguments), 3 (locate and cite arguments and evidence), 4 (produce a well-structured persuasive- analytical essay) and 5 (produce a well-structured, logical, coherent and cohesive written response) and 6 (produce an accurate evidence-based argument).
GUIDELINES
• Your essay plan must follow the instructions on the Essay Plan Template and be submitted in the supplied format. This includes using complete sentences for the thesis statement and topic sentences, then dot points to complete other parts of the plan.
• Choose one topic from the list on the following page that matches your interests and you feel you can answer well. Ifyou are a repeating student, you must not submit an essay from a previous term.
• Include a minimum of 3 current academic sources (such as a journal article published in 2018). Only sources used in the creation of the plan and/or approved by your teacher can be used in the writing of the essay.
• You may discuss the essay question with others who have selected the same topic and you may
use some of the same resources. You must, however, plan your essay INIWPFNDFNTI N to
avoid allegations of collusion.
• .A penalty of 10% per calendar ray applies for submissions made after the due date and time.
