For this reaction paper, read “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” by Mark Haddon.
• While reading this novel, note different life altering decisions Christopher (i.e., the main character) makes
and the precipitating events and/or outcomes of those choices.
For the final paper please include the following:
• Reflect on at least three different life altering decisions that the author describes in the book.
Make a connection between why Christopher (i.e., the main character) chose the path he did and how his Autism or Asperger’s directly affected his decisions.
• A comparison between what Christopher chose to do and what you think a neurotypical person might have done.
• Summarize how Christopher’s Autism or Asperger like behaviors led him down the life path taken in the book.
• Use the ideas behind Christopher’s choices to determine how an educator should manage a potentially similar situation where a student on the spectrum was struggling and needed help to cope.
In other words, synthesize how reading this book could help an educator provide a better educational experience for a student on the autism spectrum.
