With that introduction, crime data tends to show that minority populations, especially African American, are over-represented in the criminal justice system in areas such as arrests, prosecutions, convictions, and incarcerations. There may be many reasons for this, but I’d like you to focus on the criminal justice culture.

Historically, and currently, what role does the criminal justice culture play (if any) in these racial disparities? Give examples. If it does play a role, how can it change? If it doesn’t play a role, how do you think organizations can keep the culture from becoming a factor? Please touch on the concept of implicit bias.
