A Request for Proposal (RFP) is an invitation for suppliers, through a bidding process, to bid on a specific product or service. This course uses the RFP assignment to provide real-world situations to your studies. RFPs are also used to assess how well you have understood the relevant theories and concepts, by your ability to properly document the processes and requirements for a network infrastructure RFP.

In this assignment students are required to submit an RFP (no less than 5 pages in length – no more than 10 pages) to the assignment link in Blackboard. The RFP will outline a request for a small business seeking a network infrastructure with 50 network points or locations. The RFP may contain the following components (additional or less may be warranted depending on the organization and overall intent of the RFP):

  • A background on your hypothetical organization
  • The hypothetical organizations’ contact information
  • A schedule for the proposal process
  • The organizations’ criteria for making your decision
  • A basic summary of the project, including overarching goals and timeline
  • An outline of the project’s target market (customers, users, stake holders)
  • A detailed overview of the project which may include:
  • A budget
  • A list of any business requirements
  • A list of and creative/design requirements
  • A list of functional requirements
  • A list of any content type/content development needs
  • Diagrams/charts of network infrastructure
  • A list of information companies need to provide in order to fulfill the requirements of the RF
