The final project must be typed. It must contain the following sections using the section titles underlined below.
Introduction:
Describe:
- Population: Describe the individual(s) and/or the sport and/or position being played. What are the physiological demands? Be sure to include the pertinent athletic parameters (speed, agility, power, etc.) if applicable.
- Equipment/facilities: Appropriate equipment is sufficient.
- Purpose: Describe, for your 12 week macrocycle, what is this/are these individual(s) working towards.
- Goals: Based on the comparison of your individuals(s)/athlete(s) profile, and taking into account appropriate normative data, what are you address/attempting to improve and how do you intend to do so (muscle endurance vs. hypertrophy vs. strength vs. power, etc.)
Program Rationale:
Describe:
- Exercise Selection: List the exercises. How do they relate to your individual(s)/athlete(s) sport and/or position?
- Exercise Load/Relative Intensity: This should be based on individual microcycles and mesocycles. What is the appropriate intensity for each phase of periodization used in your program?
- Exercise Volume: This should be based on individual microcycles and mesocycles. What is the appropriate sets/rep scheme for each phase of periodization used in your program?
- Rest Intervals: This should be based on individual microcycles and mesocycles. What is the appropriate rest intervals for each phase of periodization used in your program?
Program:
For each training day, list the exercises, the sets, repetitions, loads (resistances), and rest periods prescribed as well as the weekly calculated volume-load. This section must include the complete training prescription for each individual training session. I’m looking for appropriate manipulation of program design variables. Must be completed in Excel or a similar program and imported into the document. Multiple examples of this format is provided at the end of your Programming and Periodization presentation
