This individual assignment boosts your ability to understand cultural environment, to conduct investigative quality research and to use video technology to enhance your communication skills. Understanding the cultural environment is one of the most important competencies of successful global managers and leaders. In this assignment you will engage with qualitative research processes that will strengthen your cultural understanding skills. This process involves the following four steps: (1) review of relevant theories; (2) data collection (interview); (3) analysis and (4) production of new knowledge (in video format). It is very important that you: 1. Familiarise yourself with the relevant theories of culture and models of cultural dimension (e.g. Modules 1 to 4 on the online lecture). Use this knowledge to design a set of interview questions (discuss with your tutor on your ideas and possible questions and focus). It is your task to design open descriptive questions (not direct questions asking for specific dimensions). 2. Interview a person from a culture other than yours. This could be a classmate or someone you met recently. The interview should be about any international experience (with focus on intercultural experiences described with relevant examples) your interviewee may have had (e.g. the place they used to live in or a place they have visited). You could explore two dimensions from any of the theories on culture and cultural values (discussed in Modules 1, 2, 3 and 4). For instance, you could choose two dimensions selected from the seven fundamental dimensions of national cultures developed by Fons Trompenaars and Charles Hampden-Turner (discussed in Module 2) to guide your interview questions.

Assessment 2 ā Individual Critical Case Study
Please ensure that this is a video recording of an individual student presenting his/her findings to the camera (important to note that this isnāt meant to be the video of the interview itself, given the interviewee is anonymous).
Two dimensions of the theories on culture and cultural values (discussed in Modules 1-4) must be addressed for this assessment. For example:
You could choose two dimensions from Hofstedeās cultural dimension (e.g. power distance and collectivism vs individualism) or;
you could choose two dimensions selected from the seven fundamental dimensions of national cultures developed by Fons Trompenaars and Charles Hampden-Turner (discussed in Module 2) to guide your interview questions.
Comparisons need to be made between the intervieweeās culture and the student interviewerās culture and/or another culture that the Indian culture is familiar with.
Lots of concrete examples should be included to help demonstrate their understanding of the chosen theories.
The minimum time frame for the length of the video you are going to submit is 5 minutes and the maximum is 7 minutes
