Project Description: Wind farms are increasingly being built all over the world to promote sustainability and generate cleaner electric power. Besides benefits, wind farms impact the power quality and voltage stability of the network. This project aims to explore Australian grid code requirements in the area and modelling of an Australian grid compliant 9 MW wind farm exporting power to a 120 kV grid. Desired Outcomes & deliverables: The desired outcomes of this project comprise: · Investigation of Australian power quality grid codes specific to installation of wind farm systems · Modelling using SIMULINK and PSSE software. of a 9 MW grid-connected wind farm including the transmission line and step up transformers · Analysis of the wind farm operation under different wind regimes. · Observation of the steady-state operation of the DFIG wind farm and its dynamic response to a network voltage sag.
