For this assessment you will be observed while performing the following task in a simulated
environment.
Task 1
Scenario A:
You are working in a Brand Creative event management organisation as a project manager. Your client
is local community club planning to organise a multicultural festival in the city. You are in charge of
planning and organizing for this mega event which is a one-day festival. You have to get an approval
from Melbourne City Council to conduct this event. You have to follow council guidelines on conducting
events. You will have 6 months to organise this even with a budget of $75,000.
The key objective of the Multicultural Festival is to provide a platform for the celebration of the rich
cultural diversity of the Australia through the participation by members of multicultural community
groups showcasing their respective cultural traditions and heritage. It provides an opportunity to learn
about other cultures.
Our mission-Tocreate memorable events and marketing campaigns that will establish your brand and
distinguish your business from your competition.
Our vision-To make each event and marketing campaign a strategic initiative of your brand by creating a
unique and lasting memory in the eyes of your clients, guests or customers.
You are required to undertake the above project by covering the below criteria’s:
1. Write a summary business case to justify the need/value of your project. In your summary
include the following:
a. Project description, purpose and desired outcomes
b. Relationship to the organisation’s goals, objectives, mission and vision
c. Organisational benefits (return on investment).
2. Detail the scope of your project including:
a. Project inclusions
b. Project exclusions
c. Assumptions
d. Closed definition (project completion measures).

This information which is in the Student Assessment pack is to be handed to each student to outline the assessment
requirements.
Student Instructions
This is an open book written test. Therefore, you are allowed to bring books/ resources that can help
you to answer the test.
Your assessor will set a date and time for this open book written test.
On the test date:
1. Your assessor will set ground rules including no phones, talking, etc.
2. Your assessor will pass a copy of the assessment to you.
3. Your assessor will allow time for reading and questions before commencing assessment.
4. You will have 1.5 hours for this assessment. You are not to leave the classroom within 15 minutes
of commencement of the assessment.
5. Once assessment has commenced, no communication between students is allowed.
6. If you repeatedly talk, or are caught cheating, you will be removed from the classroom, and
reported to student administration. Your assessment will be marked as “incomplete”
