As a way of summarizing their learning in this course, students will write an eight-page, double-spaced paper that provides a socio-cultural context for female adolescents. In the first part of this project, students will take a more personal approach to their final project. They will tell their story in the first person, discussing their personal experience of this theme in depth (written as if the writer is female). This portion of the essay should be about a third of the paperfor example, 2.5-3 pages of an eight-page paper. In the second part of this project, students will provide a socio-cultural context for their experience by reviewing relevant literature. This paper will analyze how social media is the main influencer of cosmetic surgery among adolescent females today. This paper thesis and arguments will be developed through research of peer reviewed articles, and other pertinent resources. (initial background researched will be uploaded for the writer) Students are expected to combine their own thoughtful analysis with ideas and information found in a minimum of five sources. Therefore, as in any scholarly writing, students should not merely copy information from another author, but use evidence to support the contentions they have drawn from their findings and critically analyze related literature – this paper has to be an analytical paper, not a summary of readings. Students must cite the sources of all ideas, facts, and information used that are not their own, even if they have put the information into their own words.
