Consider the data set in “Final_Assingment_Data.csv” with data regarding 200 students from Wittenberg University of Applied Sciences (WUAS). These students came from 8 different countries within the Europe. The data contains 8
different
- Country: the country from which the student came from.
- Gender: the gender of the student (male; female).
- Age: the age of the student in years.
- Income: the income of the student per month.
- Expenditure: the expenditure of the student per month
- Math_score: the score in mathematics
- Stat_score: the score in statistics
- Smoke: whether the student smokes or not (yes or no)
Question: Perform statistical analyses on this data set, and summarize the results and prepare a report. In doing these
consider
- Describe the distribution of students with respect to their country, gender and their smoking behavior
- Calculate summary statistics of the variables present in the data set
- Draw the histogram of incomes and expenditure separately. What you can see from these histograms?
- Can you see how the scores in mathematics are related to the scores in statistics? Also can you see how the
expenditure of Wittenberg students is related to their incomes?. Further how these correlations differ with
respect to their country, gender and smoking behavior.
- Perform the following hypotheses testing:
o Do the scores in mathematics differ with respect to gender? o Do the scores in statistics differ with respect to gender?
o Do the incomes differ with respect to gender?
o Do the expenditures differ with respect to gender?
Interpret your results and draw appropriate conclusions.
- Assuming the expenditure of students can be explained by their income, age, gender and smoking behavior,
perform a linear regression analysis, and make a summary of the regression analysis.
- How does this analysis would help WUAS administration for making better decision in the future?
Note:
Prepare the analysis report where you may start with a little bit introduction, and then discuss possible statistical analysis you would apply in this data set, and illustrate your results and discuss your findings with conclusion.
There is no word restriction but what are important that:
o to identify the appropriate statistical methods for the analysis of data
o to interpret the results correctly
o please do not copy the texts from each other I can somehow figure it out.
o in case more than 50% of the texts for two students are same, it is then considered to be fraud
