Textbook Critique Paper Details

The paper shall be a gender critique of a textbook. (i like the book the writer choose- “Give me Liberty by Eric Foner) can we keep the same book please

The paper shall present the book’s gendered nature, draw conclusions about what the literature says about that bias, and provide insightful critique of how gendered biases creep into seemingly innocuous places.
The paper should NOT be a comprehensive treatment of our knowledge in a particular area. Hence, there is NOT a detailed review of each article cited. Rather, there are overviews of groups of articles/books/chapters, as they relate to the textbook, accompanied by a critical assessment of how well that literature reflects/explains (or not) gendered assumptions and biases of the textbook, noting the individual pieces of research that stand out as having made significant contributions.
Maximum length: 10 pages, including references (minimum 10 scholarly articles plus other citations of popular press or other non-scholarly sources).
[Depending on the literature in your focus, this could be quite a bit shorter; 10-12 is not unreasonable.]
Your paper should follow this structure:
Introduction of the textbook (.5 page): A concise description of the book and why you chose it.
Significance (.5 page): A brief statement that explains why it is important to critique this book, especially as it relates to the subject matter. Be sure to address both theoretic and practical significance.
Organization (.5 page): A brief statement of how you have chosen to organize your critique and why (e.g., by chapter, by importance of issue, etc.)
Critique (write it last, but it goes here – .5 page): A brief statement of the ways you critically assess the textbook and why you did it this way.
The textbook – interspersed with the literature (5 pages): A description of the gendered nature of the text, interwoven with analysis from the literature. Describe a piece of the textbook; then critique it using the literature. Do NOT organize by article, but rather by the knowledge we get from the articles. Organize by IDEAS – that means an article may get mentioned several times. The FIRST time you mention it, give a brief paragraph describing what it is about and what it does.
Your paper is trying to answer the general question, “How does the scholarly literature show the gendered nature of this textbook?”
Conclusions (1 page): A brief summary (not a re-statement) of the conclusions you can draw. In this part of the paper you will be assessing “what we know” about the biases (or not) of this book. What does the literature tell us about this book and others like it?
Implications/Application (1pages): A section discussing the implications of the biases in the book, with examples of how these biases may impact its readers. Explain how this theory and research can contribute to knowledge that enhances our lives and/or solves problems facing society.
