Note: Please treat this document aas a gentle guide, not a set of prescriptive instructions. Please refer to VU Collaborate for specific assessment requirements and details.
Criterion 1: Engages user in a creative way (consider the SAMR model). How will the use of ICT transform the learning?
We have explored the level of SAMR in your design brief.
We are looking for BOTH your level of creativity and engagement and how innovative your students would need to be when using your creation.
Remember to aim for higher order thinking as best as possible rather than for your project to simply ask your students to remember facts via a multiple-choice quiz.
Criterion 2: Consideration has been given to the way the user will learn from the creative piece.
Your project needs to connect with one area of the Victorian Curriculum or Early Years Learning Framework and should aim to engage students in higher order thinking.
Do users need to apply their understanding to make something work? If users make mistakes does your project direct them to other resources to help them learn? Or do they just get told they are wrong and move on to the next section/question?
Consider Gee’s learning principles and how this impacts students’ engagement and learning.
Criterion 3: Graphics, text, audio, music, effects, links, images, edits and videography (multimedia) are appropriate and enhance the effectiveness of the product.
Multi-modal. Sounds, images, video, other resources- many different tools to help build your project. Think about the user experience. It is an engaging experience?
Criterion 4: The safety of the user has been considered. Copyright considered. If users go online to play it, will they come across inappropriate ads or material? Do users need to put in my email address? Sign in process? All materials should be original and created by you or have a Creative Common licence. Do you have permission to remix it? Creative Commons should be explicit. Remember to add to your reference list and reference all materials.
References
Use the Harvard Referencing Guide (located in Support and Resources folder) • Include texts, articles, videos, photos • Remember to use in-text citations and add references to your reference list.
