With unprecedented circumstances (COVID19) as denoted on 30th March 2020 on ilearn,
you will be having a take home assessment to replace the traditional final exam on
campus. Below are the possible essay question(s) that you will be requested to answer
within a 1-week turnaround. (We are treating the assessment like a take home exam,
hence the shorter period for submission).
The idea of providing you with a set of questions (in week 12) was to enable you to do
some prep work before the actual question was released. The question that was
randomly chosen out of the 6 questions was QUESTION 1) See below:
You were given a set of potential Essay questions in week 12 by the Unit Convenor.
The final essay question chosen at random is: QUESTION 1
(Word Count approx. 2,400 words)
Final Essay Question:
1. Can we predict cyber-crime rather than simply respond to
it? Using real examples to discuss how this can happen.
NB. This is treated like a traditional final exam so feedback will not be provided just like
any exam completed over the examination period, however, we will ensure that the mark
for the assessment will be available post the Final grades being released in July 2020
Submission Details:
Turnitin:
You are responsible for assessing its level of plagiarism. Although you
can submit the report to Turnitin as many times as you like before the
due date, only the final submission will count to Turnitin. Any Turnitin
Report with 18% or above plagiarism will be carefully reviewed and
marks deducted equivalent to the percentage if needed.
Research Essay Guidelines:
– Word Length: Approximately 2400 words
– 1 ½ spacing. (Between Paragraphs)
– 12 pt font
– Verdana
– Referencing Style: Harvard or APA is satisfactory.
– Please remember that you will need to have at least Four (4)
varying references. For example: eJournals, WebPages,
eNewspaper articles, documentaries and eText books
– You will need to include: Reference List.
– Marking Rubric available in Turnitin, look for similar to this symbol for
where it is located.
Further Points
Any late essay papers will receive a 10% penalty per 24 hours after
the due time.
Anything later than 5 days will not be marked, and the submission
link will be removed.
The essay paper is marked over the exam period and treated like an
exam hence the feedback will not be provided for individual papers,
we will however release the mark for the paper post the grade
release in mid-July.
