To bring in more counselors to school districts as a resource for students that deal with addiction. This is to bring more awareness to the issue as well as hopefully making it standard or acceptable to get help.
I want to solve video game and/or drug addiction in teens. I want to bring psychologists and counselors to schools to provide support and awareness to those that need help early on in their addiction. I personally believe I learned a lot from my addiction counselor through High school and College although it was not open to all students. Being open to all students will raise the awareness of the issue. I’ve seen too many people in my previous situation, unaware of the resources they have, continue down the wrong path of addiction.
The schools will benefit as much as the families in saving relationships, health of the addict, and the future of society. The parents need to solve the problem of their children’s drug addiction as it can continue to ruin their education and career. The schools will create a healthier district and earn more respect in the community, increasing their ratings across the board with more successful students. I will also incorporate other sources of addiction to allow others outside of drug addiction to obtain help.
For my proposal I will begin with my credibility in the field detailing research that backs up the success of counselors as a resource for addiction. Along with statistics around how drug addiction and school ratings are correlated. Then I will either bring in my personal tear jerking story hitting pathos or I will start talking about logos and how to logically solve drug addiction. Thus, the holy trinity (Ethos, Pathos, Logos) will be in place and my grant stands no chance at being denied as their choice of helping humanity and society will be too great to turn down.
