There are two parts to the final exam. You should answer both parts:
Part One:
Compare and contrast the ‘state of Britain’ in 1215 and 1689. In your essay you should consider domestic/political and foreign policies as well as economic, social and cultural features. As you compare and contrast the political, economic and cultural changes that distinguish the two periods, you should also specifically compare and contrast Magna Carta to the Bill of Rights. There is no single ‘correct’ answer to this question – it is designed to allow you to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the general patterns of English history between the 13th and 17th centuries. The minimum length is 1,000 words, the recommended maximum length is 1,500 words. It should have a creative title, two images contrasting and summing up for you the differences in England between 1215 and 1689, should cite sources using MLA format and include a Works Cited page. Write a 500-word short paper on your reactions to two of these websites and how they link with specific themes we have considered in the course. Remember to cite the websites and the textbook as you discuss them. (10 points)

• Answer to Part One Illustrates an understanding of the complexities of English history and includes a detailed comparison of Magna Carta and the English Bill of Rights (10 points)
• Part Two: Writing is grammatically correct and meaning is clear; meets minimum length; citations follow MLA format. Answer to Part Two demonstrates reflection and careful consideration of two of the listed websites and their historical context gained from the textbook. (10 points)
