Do you think climate change is actually occurring? State your reasons for your answer. 2. What do you think are the major human causes of climate change? 3. Are all scientists in agreement about the occurrence of climate change? Part Two Climate Change How do we know the Earth is warming How are the terms climate change, global warming, and global change different? You will need to provide definitions for each of these terms first. What is the Greenhouse Effect? How does the natural Greenhouse Effect provide for the Earth? How have human activities endangered the natural greenhouse effect? What are the most important greenhouse gases? How have they changed and what has caused the change? What is the difference between weather and climate? What causes the Earths climate to change? What are some uncertainties associated with climate change? Do scientists agree that this is due to a natural rise in global temperatures or could it be due to human activities? Your answer should be based on statements from scientists. Part Four Political commitments The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Changes (IPCC) Fourth Assessment Report (2014) has provided authoritative assessments of the current state of knowledge of climate change. What are the assessments and how are they used? What is the Kyoto Protocol? Which governments have actively endorsed it? In December, 2016 representatives of many countries met in Paris to create a global agreement on climate change. What was the outcome of the meeting and the outcome for the United States? What can legislators do to inform the general public on what they can do to make a difference with the change in climate? Part Five: Conclusion What can you do? Which factors did you select before you started your research? Which ones did you learn were the major causes? How has your research provided the basis for the conclusions? What will you do differently as a result of what you learned from the research? What two facts would you give others if asked about if climate change is actually happening in the US?
