Explore a published literary work through the lens of the writer’s biography and/or historical context. In other words, tell your audience how the literary work fits into the writer’s life and/or times and explain how you believe this can help readers better understand and appreciate the work. The essay should be 1,500 to 1,800 words (about five to six pages) in MLA Style. There should be at least five sources for the essay, and all of the sources must appear in the Works Cited list. These sources may include books and periodical articles about the author and/or the writers culture and historical time period; and literary criticism. The essay still must be argumentative with an original and meaningful thesis that aids your readers’ understanding of the literature.
